It's not a physical thing Arthur it's like
It's like the sickly shine of oil in water evaporated into the air and condensed upon a jagged piece of something that doesn't belong in her home world and definitely doesn't belong here. It's lodged in her head like an icepick, and every twist of it warps her senses and claws at her sanity. She looked at something no human was meant to see and forced herself to adapt at a high toll, and this iridescent splinter is a lingering reminder of the cost she paid.
She looked into the severed eye of a god, Arthur, and part of it stayed in her.
[There, that clears things up, right?]

His reply takes several minutes to arrive. And when it does, it's... well, look at it: ]
A woman with yellow eyes. Question mark
[ And a motherly voice, and desperate jaws. A blade like an aurora rattling in her wounded head. It can't be. ]

John, where did you see her? I think I might know who she is

[No, he did not think to lead with this at any point.]

YOU know Siffleur's mother?

Yes?? She's in the Tommy Bahama.
[As if that clears it up.]
How do YOU know Siffleur's mother?

Long story
[ Reconsidering this... ]
Actually, scratch that short story we met in a shed dream because of some nonsense the ship had going on at the time. Are you still there? Give me 10 minutes to get there

[since he still needs clothes after all, he's just going to do it away from the woman with a fragment of a god in her head, could you imagine hanging out with someone like that-]
